Kendal RUFC
Kendal RUFC had been contemplating relocation for many years and looked at many possible relocation sites. Club Design was asked to become involved by a development company called Morbaine from Widnes, to design the new facility including the clubhouse and site layout and to make the planning application. Originally located on Shap Rd on the outskirts of the town centre of Kendal, a new site was found literally 400 metres along Shap Rd.
Approximate Project Value. In Excess of £6m.
Funding. Sale of existing site to Morbaine for the development of a Sainsbury supermarket.
Description. North One East Division rugby club.
Traditional Form of Contract. Relocation from Mint Bridge to a new clubhouse with 6 changing rooms, 2 / 3 social rooms, further meeting room, commercial catering kitchen, gymnasium, new grass rugby pitches (main pitch floodlit) and full sized floodlit 3G pitch, car parking.
Services Provided:
Full feasibility study and cost plan, all plans, elevations and site layouts, full tender package and specification, public consultation exercise, submission of the planning application, all architectural work and project management including tender action and appointment of the contractors. Management of the construction phase to completion and hand over.
